Dylan Dwyer is professional musician and educator whose passion for music has taken him around the world, but his roots are in Missoula.

Dylan teaches private music lessons to students of all ages. For over 20 years, he has taught woodwinds and brass
--including saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, flute, and trombone--as well as beginning percussion.

Hundreds of students from preschool through college have learned how to successfully play instruments, understand music theory, and perform in an ensemble with Dylan. He works from a student-centered philosophy that helps musicians find their own joy and creativity and then builds on that foundation with tried-and-true practice techniques.

With a varied background as both a music teacher and a professional musician playing jazz, funk, classical, blues, and rock, Dylan is able to guide students through their own music journey
--from The Shed to the stage.

In jazz slang, "hitting the woodshed" means taking time to practice your horn and dramatically improve your playing.

The term has multiple roots, but the most famous is the legend of a young Charlie Parker. After he was booed off the stage at a jam session, he decided to hole up in a shed out in the Ozarks to practice until he was good enough to try again. Instead of giving up, he brought all of his Count Basie records to the woodshed and learned each of saxophonist Lester Young's solos, note for note. When he returned to the music stage after "shedding" for a year, he had developed into a formidable alto saxophonist who would go on to change the course of jazz forever.

Do you have what it takes to "hit the shed" and realize your musical potential!?

Music is a universal language. When I began playing saxophone almost 30 years ago, I could not have dreamed of all the places it would take me and people I would meet and share music with. It has literally taken me around the world! Start your musical adventure at The Shed today!
